The assembly started with the thought for the day which was apt for the topic chosen. It encouraged people to recognise, accept and celebrate their differences. This was followed by a skit depicting a real- life incident in the lives of Ratan Tata and Shanthanu Naidu. Both were avid dog lovers and passionate to work for social causes. The skit shows Shanthanu’s chance meeting with Ratan Tata and how he managed to get extra funds to support stray dogs from being run over by speeding vehicles at night. The money was needed to make fluorescent collars and to fund rallies which sought out thousands of stray dogs and collared them. There was a touch of humour in the skit when the speeding motorists actually chased the dogs to collar them. The sound of the motorbikes and the barking of the dogs in the background gave a special effect and enhanced the assembly.
This brought them together and their friendship grew over the years though they were decades apart in age, status and experience. Their differences were beautifully bridged too. We see here too that Tata actually employed Shanthanu as part of his social work team after he finished his MBA from Cornell University at the US. He was trained personally by the big boss himself and his efficient office team.
During the skit, a student played a happy tune on the keyboard as a background. This was followed by a group song which was a happy tune sung to celebrate the success of the venture MOTOPAWS- PAWS FOR A CAUSE which turned out to be a resounding success. The Pledge was then taken and vote of thanks expressed by the students. The assembly was enjoyed by one and all and was memorable for class 8F too!
