KG2 - Germination Activity

Maria Montessori beautifully quoted that, “Nothing should be given to the brain that is not first given to the hand”. Students of KG2 embraced hands-on learning in our EVS class by participating in an engaging seed germination activity. This activity allowed our children to visualize the entire process and it developed their logical thinking. They displayed their learning by using various terminologies like germination, seed, root, shoot, seed coat, seedling, and so on. Children used a variety of seeds like coriander, fenugreek and mustard and planted them in two pots.

They took good care of one pot by providing it with all the necessary environmental needs of the plant to grow well and the other one was deprived of the same. They then noted their observations by drawing pictures on their observation chart. They culminated the learning by participating in a ‘Show and Tell’ activity.
